Request Committee Report

2018 was another very successful year for CHAS, despite a very difficult economic climate for Calgary.

Our 2017 Holiday Luncheon was sold out; another very successful fundraiser.  We were able to   contribute $50,000 to the Children’s Cottage Crisis Nursery from this event.

CHAS members worked very diligently to provide a fun and happy Easter party for children and family members at the Alberta Children’s Hospital this past spring.

Once again, in July 2017, Rob Laidlaw generously donated funds form his Annual Stampede Party to CHAS.  We will use $120,000 of this money in addition to other monies in 2019 to fund equipment for the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Foothills Hospital.

Our 2018 Golf Tournament held in August at the Silver Springs Golf Tournament was enjoyed by all. The majority of the proceeds raised from this year’s tournament went to fund specialized orthopedic equipment at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

In October, we held our Bridge Luncheon at the Calgary Golf and Country Club.  We were able to donate $10,000 from this event to the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Team.

One of this year’s highlights was that our CHAS membership was selected as the recipient of the 2018 National Philanthropic Generosity of Spirit Award. This award was presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals for Calgary and Area and particularly timely as fund raising is more and more challenging. This award is truly a testament to the dedication and commitment of the membership.
