Investing in Stronger Futures for Kids
Proceeds from this year’s 44th Annual CHAS Charity Golf Classic will benefit the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation's Robotic Walking Aids Project, also known as “Stepping Up for Kids”, along with other Calgary and surrounding area charities.
Specialists at the Alberta Children’s Hospital have been leading innovative clinical research enabling dozens of children with complex needs to experience walking – many for the very first time. Each child is fitted with a wearable robotic device that supports them within a frame and gently moves their legs in a preset custom gait pattern. Early data shows significant benefits, including improvements in sleep, motor function, social interaction, communication and decreased pain.
By participating in this year’s CHAS Charity Golf Classic, sponsors, donors and participants will make it possible to help children benefit from this innovative new technology – while enabling the team to gather information, build collaborations, and design a sustainable program to increase access for more children across southern Alberta.
