President’s Report
Marg Traboulsi
December, 2025
As we close another impactful year, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each of you- Members who have stayed true to our mission of supporting the health and well being of Calgary’s children and youth. Your commitment has made this year not only successful but truly meaningful.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Member engagement continued to strengthen this year, reflected in both an increase in membership and a noticeable rise in participation at our social activities which speaks to a strong sense of connection and belonging within CHAS. Members are connecting more frequently through our CHAS Walks, post general meeting lunches, flower winery tour, wreath making event and our Wine & Cheese social, building relationships among our Members, and contributing to a vibrant and welcoming CHAS community.
Our fundraising events were very successful and sold out last year raising important funds for the major recipients of these events as well as bringing widespread exposure to these organizations, and strong financial support for all the child focused organizations we support.
Our annual Golf tournament at Silver Spring Golf & Country Club, Bridge & Games Luncheon at the Calgary Golf & Country Club, Holiday Lunch at Heritage Park were tremendous fun, highly effective and a celebration of community that also delivered excellent results.
Our annual Easter Party at the Alberta Children’s Hospital continued to be a meaningful tradition bringing smiles and moments of joy to children in the hospital, those attending clinics and their families.
We attended educational opportunities regarding philanthropy, financial statements, silent auction administration and implemented suggested marketing strategies through our chocolate bar sales.
Members volunteered at organizations we support preparing lunches and meals, sortingclothing, seasonal decorating and organizing book shelves to name a few activities.
FINANCIAL OVERVIEW
Since February 2025 CHAS has dispersed $669,765.00 to 43 charitable organizations, which included $125,000.00 to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, expanding our reach to serve more Calgary families.
Thanks to strong donor support, newly engaged such as the Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA) and ongoing donors including the very generous BDSP, and prudent oversight of our Treasury and Requests Committee, we ended our year in very good financial shape.
POLICY DEVELOPMENT
A policy was developed on acknowledging Members who have passed, providing clearguidance during sensitive times and supporting transparency and fairness by treating allMembers equally.
A policy was developed on accepting complimentary tickets that promotes ethical decision making and protects CHAS’ reputation.
Together these policies reinforce respectful member relations, ethical conduct and strongorganizational governance.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I want to extend a special “thank you” to everyone. I am grateful for what you do and the way you show up for one another; those new to our organization who have embraced our missionand events and the seasoned members who continue to contribute and lead, your time and hearts have driven every success this year.
Your willingness to participate, contribute and be present, is the heart of CHAS.
LOOKING AHEAD
2026 will be a year of continuing to deepen our impact. We will focus on program evaluation, strengthening our digital outreach and expanding our advocacy efforts.
The work ahead continues to be big but so are our hearts and our community. Together we will build a more compassionate future in Calgary.
With gratitude,
Marg Traboulsi
