The Next Generation: CHAS Next

CHAS has been operating in the hands of brilliant and compassionate women for over 110 years. In order to introduce the CHAS group to a younger audience, CHAS members approached their own daughters about reaching out to enable a new generation to learn more about advocating for children and families throughout Southern Alberta. Before deciding on a name, our group considered calling ourselves “The Daughters of CHAS” as it was originally headed by the current members’ children, but we eventually decided on “CHAS Next”.  This name perfectly describes our ambition to strive to carry on our mothers’ legacies while forging our own.

Each year since its inception in 2016, members of CHAS Next have decided on a charity or cause that we wish to support. Among these have been Brown Bagging for Kids, The Children’s Cottage, and URSA (Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency). Each one of these groups was selected by a CHAS Next member because she felt passionate towards the cause and wanted CHAS Next to assist however possible. To date, CHAS Next has raised approximately $7,000 for these incredible organizations through plenty of fun and engaging fundraisers.

CHAS Next sincerely hopes that you will join us for our next endeavour. Many CHAS members can be spotted painting away at easels during Paint and Pint nights, pedalling to a beat at spin classes, or taking it easy at morning yoga. CHAS Next strives to include fitness and fun in all that we do while raising money for worthy causes within Calgary.

CHAS Next has grown quite a bit since 2016, both personally and numerically, as we have begun inviting members without relatives in the parent organization. Greater numbers mean more perspectives are added, allowing us to discover how to further serve our community and live up to the CHAS name.
